Give Up!!
Go Ahead and Give Up!I love what I do! I get to encourage homeschoolers in what matters. You need encouragement after all. Over at The Smiling Homeshcooler Facebook page the moms all feel like YOU. They feel worn out, underappreciated, and on the verge of giving up (or a nervous breakdown).
Usually, I cheer them on and talk them down from the edge . . . but I’m thinking about a new approach. So here’s my NEW advice if you feel like giving up: Do it. Just give up.
– Give up trying to be God. As Jan Smith said on The Smiling Homeschooler Podcast last week, “Okay God, if this is what you called me to do, then You’re responsible for it . . . not ME.”
– Give up comparing yourself to everyone else. You’re not able to do what they do . . . and your kids are not like their kids.
– Give up trying to do what isn’t working. If your kids don’t like it . . . and you don’t like it . . . give it up!
– Give up trying to be a super mom. You can’t do everything . . . be everything to everyone . . . and still smile. Yes, still SMILE . . . but give up the rest.
– Give up . . . giving up. You’re a homeschooler . . . this is what you’ve decided to do so stop entertaining the idea of quitting. Just make up your mind and keep at it until the end.
– Give up for real . . . at least for the day. Stop doing school for today. Instead, do something fun with your children, or do something productive to get your life under control. So from now on . . . if you feel like giving up . . . DO IT!
But DON’T give up smiling!!!
