National Staying Married Day

Hey Mom,

I’ve been thinking about creating a National Staying Married Day for a while now. I was trying to pick the best day to celebrate it when I got the brilliant idea to place it the day AFTER Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is all about love, mushy poems, flowers, chocolate candy, and goo-goo eyes. I’m all over the holiday and love celebrating the love I feel for my wife and children. But Staying Married Day is more than goo-goo eyes, mushy poems, flowers, and chocolates. It’s about commitment, fighting for what matters, and ‘death do us part’.

While some feel fake celebrating Valentin’es Day, every married couple can celebrate Staying Married Day. By celebrating I mean just reconfirming your commitment. It might be as simple as a card that states to their spouse, “I know it’s not always fun and sometimes I’m a  jerk…but you can count on me to fight for our marriage and you…because I’m staying married.

I’ve even included a free printable card for you to give to your spouse.
