Letter From a Recovering Year-Rounder
Hey Mom, |
I love getting emails from you. I feel so encouraged by your comments…and when I get emails like the one you’re about to read, I feel overwhelmed by the example of a mom willing to change midstream because she knows deep in her heart that it’s time to change. I won’t say anymore…but just read and reread Kristi’s email. Dear Todd, I’ve written before, but this time is different. I’ve been doing this homeschooling thing for 21 years. I did want to be a librarian or a teacher as a kid! Ha! Now I am a veteran teacher AND a home librarian because God has a sense of humor! Anyway, I’m writing to tell you that I’m listening. No more year-round school for us. No more one or two-day breaks with nagging schoolish guilt. My husband took us all on a week-long vacation to see our daughter in beautiful Florida, because I am now free to relax. I stopped fretting and worrying and getting sick over what to do. Not perfectly, but so much better. When she asked when we were going to start school again, she was so shocked in a good way to hear me say I had no idea!!?? Nor did I know what we would study!!!! We are also going to buy some inexpensive kayaks and take our RV for long weekends because my husband works remotely and there are lots of RV parks within a short radius of us. We ordered an above-ground pool and it’s arriving today. It’s a Kids’ Day surprise for our three left at home. I rented Inside Out AND watched it with them because you and Ben recommended it and then I surprised them and took them to part 2 at the movies. They were so happy and we had a wonderful time. It’s never too late to love. It’s never too late to pour into. It’s never too late to bless and laugh and relax and enjoy the blessings God has given. It’s never too late until it is. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart that summer school makes you gag and you tell us to knock it off! I hope and pray this encourages you and your family. What you guys say is true. If we keep God at the center and relationship right there too, it all comes out in the wash and it ALL COUNTS. With a very appreciative and grateful heart, Kristi Follett Recovering Year Rounder, Now Free by Jesus with your advice!!!! I feel like everyone is smiling, |
